Consultancy Service:

TBN was responsible for Project management and Engineering on behalf of the contractor, being the link with the Client GWCL and the Engineer.

Project entailed the design and construction supervision of the following facilities in the Berekum Water Supply System

• Surface water intake
• Mechanization of 19No. Boreholes
• Laying of 15km Raw Water Transmission Mains
• Laying of 25km of Treated Water Transmission Mains
• Construction of Conventional Water Treatment Plant comprising aerators, clarifiers, rapid gravity filters, Clear water tank, chemical preparation and dosing systems
• High-lift pumping station
• Service tanks
• 169km of Distribution Network

Project entailed the supervision of :

• Mechanization of 28No. Boreholes
• laying of over 250km of HDPE pipes ranging from 110 to 315mm
• Construction of 8No. Concrete Elevated Tanks
• Construction of 2No. Treatment Plants
• Construction of 300No. Public Standpipes with Smart Taps
• Installation of over 600m2 of Solar Panels together with control and electrical accessories

Project entailed the supervision of laying of over 70km of HDPE pipes ranging from 110 to 315mm and the construction of chambers, valves, kiosks and fire hydrants in La Dade-Kotopon, Adenta And La Nkwatanang Municipal Assemblies

Provided sub-contract services to undertake survey and condition assessment of the water supply infrastructure for the lead consultant PwC.

Project Activities undertaken: 

• Review of previous design criteria and assessment of baseline as well as projected design data.
• Generation of alternative water supply system designs to achieve an optimum system
• Hydraulic modelling and selection of pipe materials and sizes.
• Design and production of drawings for Treatment Plant, Pump Houses, Chlorination Building, Administrative Buildings, High-Level Tanks, Boreholes, Electro-mechanical systems etc.
• Assessment of environmental impact of and impact of climate change on the design.
• Design of solutions to address environmental and climate change impact.
• Pricing and production of Bill of Quantities for the 2 work packages with a total of 9 lots.
• Production of tender documents to AfDB and World Bank specifications.
• Support Tender Evaluation Process and produce Tender Evaluation Report

TBN was responsible for the Project and Engineering Management of the construction works on-behalf of the Client from contract award to hand-over.

Baseline assessments, design and construction supervision of sanitation and water supply facilities for schools in La Dade-Kotopon MA

Key Project Components:

• Baseline assessment of toilet, water supply and other hygiene facilities.
• Design of toilet and water supply facilities
• Review of Ghana Water Supply connection to school facilities and liaise with GWCL to improve reliability of supply.
• Hygiene education design and delivery
•  Environmental Impact and safeguarding assessment.
• Tender documentation, procurement support, contract management, construction supervision
• Preparation of facilities management plans

Scope Description:

The services provided included, community mobilization and sensitisation, baseline surveys, feasibility design, detailed design of transmission and distribution networks, tender preparation and evaluation, environmental impact assessment, formation of Water and Sanitation Management Teams, preparation of tender documents, Bill of Quantities, Project cost estimation, contract administration, construction supervision, management of contract variations and verification of contractors’ payment certificates. Programme management including regular reporting on progress against baseline, project financial and time variance analysis and management.

• Hydrogeological investigation, Borehole siting, design and drilling for 285 boreholes; Design of transmission and distribution lines including hydraulic modelling, storage tanks, standpipes and house connections.
